Last Thursday, I received this beauty in the post! It is a small leather notebook, that was handcrafted in Prien am Chiemsee, Germany.

When I took it out of its package, it was wrapped in silk paper, just like my other new leather journal was! I don’t know, just really, really like that, how they wanted to give the notebook some extra protection. It just shows how much the company who sent it cares. It’s sweet. Oh and under the silk paper, it was covered in plastic. I kind of like that, too! Haha. Anyway, the brand’s name is Bindewerk. The notebook has 288 pages of 90g, cream-colored paper and its dimensions are 12 x 16 cm or about 4.7 x 6.2 inches. It is a quite unusual size, according to me. Not an A6, but almost. I have been looking for a journal in that size for a while now, so I am glad I found one!

dsc_0010The notebook is in a black, genuine leather that is extremely smooth and pleasant to touch. The leather is quite plain, not any nuances or anything, but as you can see on the picture it has some faint wrinkling and so on. Gorgeous! The book is also, as you can see, quite thick. As I mentioned before, it has got 288 pages (so it will last a long time, haha). It has a soft cover, and I was pleasantly surprised when I found out it can bend freely, even though it is so thick. Lovely!

I made a small pen test, using a Uni-Ball Fine Deluxe, and found that the paper was very pleasant to write on. There is some some show-through or ghosting however, as you can see on the picture to the right. Not as much as in a Moleskine or Leuchtturm, but enough to make me a bit disappointed. But hey – I am after all extremely picky when it comes to that. Overall, the paper felt amazing. It has got a nice texture, a lovely color and is pleasant to write on.

So, these are my first impressions of this notebook from Bindewerk. I will probably make a more extensive review of it once I have used it for a bit. I think I will use it as a fun/whatever journal, haha. Here is a link to the notebook, if you are interested! I am not sure if the brand ships to your country, but it might be worth a look! 🙂

Oh and if you know any notebooks that does not have any ghosting, please let me know in the comments below! I desperately want to find one. Haha!
